Milk of magnesia recalled for possible microbial contamination

Staten Island, NY — Plastikon Healthcare is recalling several shipments of its milk products due to possible microbial contamination, according to a recall notice from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
The company is recalling three batches of milk of magnesia 2400mg/30ml for oral suspension, one batch of 650mg/20.3ml paracetamol and six batches of 1200mg/aluminum hydroxide 1200mg/simethicone 120mg/30ml of magnesium hydroxide patient levels.
Milk of magnesia is an over-the-counter medicine used to treat occasional constipation, heartburn, acid or upset stomach.
This recalled product may cause illness due to intestinal discomfort, such as diarrhea or abdominal pain.According to the recall notice, individuals with compromised immune systems are more likely to develop widespread, potentially life-threatening infections when ingesting or otherwise orally exposed to products contaminated with microorganisms.
To date, Plastikon has not received any consumer complaints related to microbiological issues or adverse event reports related to this recall.
The product is packaged in disposable cups with foil lids and sold nationwide.They are distributed from May 1, 2020 to June 28, 2021.These products are private label of major pharmaceutical companies.
Plastikon has notified its direct customers via recall letters to arrange for the return of any recalled products.
Anyone with inventory of the recalled batch should immediately stop using and distributing and quarantine.You should return all quarantined products to the place of purchase.Clinics, hospitals or healthcare providers that have distributed products to patients should notify patients of the recall.
